No, ISIS DID NOT Retake Abu Kamal - Russian Defence Ministry


Having flown over Iraq and Iran, six long-range Tu-22M3 long-range aircraft bombed the ISIS positions near the city of Abu Kamal in Deir ez-Zor province, the Russian Defence Ministry reports. They destroyed groups of militants and their armored vehicles. Voice and data recorders confirmed that all target had been hit. Bomber aircraft were backed by Su-30 SM fighters from the Khmeimim Air Base. Upon completing the task all Russian aircraft returned to the base.
As for Abu Kamal city, the Russian Defence Ministry has disproved the information that the city was captured by ISIS militants. The city has been controlled by the Syrian army and militia since Friday.
