Putin Urges for More "Responsible" Market Practices In World’s Arms Trade

The amount of orders in the military-technical field has exceeded 45 billion USD in the last 3 quarters. The yearly income from weaponry sale abroad is expected to surpass 15 billion USD. This was announced by President Putin at the committee meeting on military-technical cooperation with foreign countries. The President mentioned that Moscow sees a systematic breach of international law by some market players.
Vladimir Putin: "Russia is strongly committed to fighting terrorism. It chooses its contractors very carefully, as well as controls how its weaponry is used by the buyers. However, we have noticed some alarming tendencies lately that are growing. I mean a systematic breach of international law by some market players, threats with regard to sovereign countries. Instead of a real fight against terrorists, there is only its imitation. Uncontrolled supply of weapons is increasing. Today it falls in the hands of "moderate opposition" in one place or another and tomorrow — in the hands of radical groups and terrorists. It seems that for some players hot spots and conflict zones have become a profitable business, a part of intricate quasi-legal schemes of weapon sales to politically unstable regions. I would like to emphasize once again that the export of weapons is a great responsibility for any country. It's important that all players in the global weapons market understand that".
