"The kindest tourists come to India from Russia," said the Indian Minister of Internal Affairs to his Russian counterpart at a meeting in Moscow. The ministers agreed on cooperation. But what crimes are they going to fight together? Andrey Shtukaturov has the details.

A large-scale operation by the Russian police. The arrest of the leaders and members of an international crime syndicate. The suspects arranged a hashish supply pipeline to the CIS countries through Europe and the Baltic states. The syndicate had been operating for a long time. The officers seized more than 800 kilos of the poison.

Alas, Russia has enough citizens engaged in drug dealing. The international syndicates recruit more and more people, mostly youngsters. In order to successfully fight the criminals joint efforts are needed. One cannot fight the so-called Afghan traffic alone. Joining efforts was on the agenda at the meeting of the Russian Minister of the Interior Vladimir Kolokoltsev and his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh.

Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Russian Minister of the Interior: "Fighting illegal drug trafficking is our top priority. The issue's grown more urgent. In fact, our state's efforts to fight this evil are concentrated in our Ministry".

Drug dealing brings enormous revenue. It's one of the key sources of financing international terrorism. Thousands of people die, including children. Almost every day Russian investigators bust criminal cells. Russia and India need to join their efforts more than ever. It would allow us to timely react to the modern threats and challenges.

Сyber crime, the evil which knows no borders. Fighting it also requires strengthening the cooperation between the two countries. The exchange of information plays a key role, both through the Interpol and the Russian Interior Ministry representative in India.

Russian tourists have been traveling to India increasingly often. Unfortunately, some of them commit crimes abroad. Others fall victim to the local criminals.

Rajnath Singh, the Indian Minister of Internal Affairs, told us in the interview: "Indeed, India receives a lot of Russian tourists. Very few of them violate the law. In general, I consider Russians to be very kind".

Russians misbehave in India far less than the citizens of other countries. Seemingly, it comes as a sign of respect for the local hospitality.

At the eeting, the ministers signed an important agreement on cooperation between the Ministries of the Interior of both countries as well as a joint action plan to fight illicit drug-trafficking.
