Ready to roll. Da Nang, a popular resort, is to work hard today. The 25th APEC summit will be the most representative meeting in the history of the city. It will host more than 20 leaders of the regional economies, with eminent guests having arrived.

Vladimir Putin's plane landed at Da Nang airport early in the morning. He was met with festivities at the highest level, with the guard of honor lining up at the airstairs. Today, the Russian President has a very tight schedule. He will attend a meeting with the business circles of the APEC economies, as well as with the invited leaders of the ASEAN countries.

This organization is now presided by the Philippines. Today Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold a conversation with President Duterte to discuss trade and economic cooperation. Putin will discuss information security with the leader of Vietnam. Bilateral relations and the situation on the Korean peninsula will be covered at a meeting with the Japanese PM.

Negotiations with China's President are planned, too, which will be the fourth meeting of Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping this year. The Presidents aide, Yury Ushakov, says that it's also interesting because the day before, the Chinese leader received President Trump, and the assessment of those talks might be, quote, "very useful."

A meeting of Putin and Trump remains one of the main intrigues of the summit. The Kremlin noted that the leaders have topics to discuss: the situation in Syria and around the DPRK, an uneasy bilateral context. But the information about the meeting is quite contradictory. Its time, place, and format are still unknown.
