The United States often faces attacks similar to the one that happened today in Las Vegas. Hundreds of people become victims of armed criminals every year. Mass shootings with a large number of casualties are something that happens regularly in the US. Here are the most high-profile cases for this year alone.

 

January 6, 2017, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A criminal started shooting at passengers in the second terminal of the city airport. He killed five people and wounded six, while another 36 were injured in the stampede. The murderer was detained by the police. It turned out that he was mentally ill. The court soon dropped murder charges against him.

May 27, Lincoln County, Mississippi. A criminal indiscriminately opened fire on his neighbors. He killed eight people before being arrested. He said to the press that this is how he wanted to commit suicide. He allegedly hoped that he would be shot by the police. He received a long prison sentence.

June 5, Orlando, Florida. An ex-employee went to his former workplace, shot his colleagues and then shot himself. As a result, six people were killed.

June 14, Alexandria, Virginia. An armed “activist” broke into a charity baseball game. He seriously wounded six people, including Congressman Steve Scalise, and was killed by the return fire coming from the politician's security detail. Early July of this year, Little Rock, Arkansas. September 10, Plano, Texas. A recently unemployed male killed his family and eight people, seriously wounding two others before being shot by the police.

September 24, Antioch, Tennessee. An armed man killed a woman at the entrance to a church, and then broke into the building and opened fire on the parishioners. He wounded seven people, then one of the wounded knocked him down and disarmed him.
