The declamation of formulas, salty tea, and the contemplation of the sun, what is most important. All this is advised as the cure for lethal diseases. In Moscow, the police have shut the office of the Alla Ayat pseudo-religious organization. Several years ago, it was recognized as a destructive cult by the Supreme Court. It was banned in most Russian regions. There are many victims of this cult, and some of them died. What is its source of power? Is it the sun or money?

Denis Vaskovsky, our reporter has conducted his own examination.

It's the final stage of the operation: the special team is storming a restaurant in Moscow. Here, Alla Ayat cult followers have had their rally. But no one seems to pay attention. The followers keep on drinking tea ceremoniously. The booklets scattered all around the place say that tea should always go with a chant.

This formula consisting of senseless words and numbers was invented by this man. His name is Farkhat Abdulayev, he was a truck driver from a village near Almaty in Kazakhstan. In the early 90s, he proclaimed himself and his wife the creators of the universe, to a great surprise of the villagers. After that, he started healing and teaching people. Here, the impostor is diagnosing his patients with the sun energy, smoking cigarettes all the time.

He preached at filled arenas at the peak of his fame in the 90s. As he died, the cult began to fade away, but not for long. Somehow, it reappeared, and not only in Kazakhstan. Today, people are cured with salty tea and the energy of the sun here in Russia.

Adepts of the cult:

- My mother wasn't the only one who paid them, there were many such people. I don't know how much she gave them, I didn't calculate. But I know she had to take out loans. Thirty, sixty thousand, once it was more than a hundred thousand rubles.

- The man will unite with the sun. The Sun Man, a sunny one. Earth. Man. Sun.

Those who decided to get sun treatment must not go to hospitals or take pills. Mikhail Ivanov started to fight the cult after it had taken his girlfriend. Over time, he learned about the results of this paranormal treatment.

Mikhail Ivanov: "I know about two followers, both Russian, one from Lyubertsy, who died during one of the rituals. Many people in Russia have already died. This year, a woman has died in St. Petersburg. Five to six people died in Altai".

This is a very good business. The children of the truck driver are millionaires, his grandchildren study abroad. The cult is spreading over Russia and the CIS. New offices are opened daily.

Alexander Dvorkin, anti-cult activist: "Cult leaders are usually depraved and mentally unstable people. The longer they rule, the more unstable they get, the bigger their insanity becomes. No one can predict what they will do or what they will ask people to do. Any totalitarian cult is a time bomb, and no one knows what time it is set, so it may explode any minute".

So far, the sun cult acts discretely, they don't want to make a fuss. But they say, people have started to give away their housing to the cult leaders.
