Russian Rocket Puts American Satellite Into Orbit


The Proton-M rocket was again successfully launched from Baikonur, carrying AsiaSat 9 communications satellite into orbit, with a mass over 9 tons.
The Proton-M rocket was again successfully launched from Baikonur, carrying AsiaSat 9 communications satellite into orbit, with a mass over 9 tons. The launch took place on Thursday evening.
This morning the satellite separated from the upper stage to begin independent flight. It's tasked to provide communications in the Asia-Pacific region. The satellite is estimated to be able to operate in orbit for 15 years.
