Assad Doubles Down, Returns French Legion of Honor Award to Government Run by "Slaves"

Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad gave France the Order of the Legion of Honor back. The award was passed on to the French Embassy in Damascus that represents the country's interests in the region.
Assad's administration explained that the reason they gave back the Order is France's part in the trilateral aggression against Syria, alongside the US and the UK. I remind you that Assad received this award in 2001 from the Former French President, Jacques Chirac. The Order of the Legion of Honor is the highest order of merit in France. It's awarded for extraordinary civilian or military merits for the country. It was established in 1802 by Napoléon Bonaparte by analogy to the Knights' orders.
The Order is led by the Great Master, the President of France. It's he who admits people to the membership, 2,000-3,000 people per year. Among those who've been honored are the top public officials and prominent figures of the military, scientific, and cultural fields. The Order membership doesn't grant any financial advantages. It's mainly a sign of prestige and recognition by the French Republic.
