Later, he said that some friends criticized him for this. But Vachuda believes that the negative image of the Russian athletes was formed by the Western media. He considers it to be unfair and couldn't act otherwise.

 

Filip Vachuda, American fan: 'When I found out that Russia wouldn't be able to compete under its own flag I felt really sorry for the clean athletes that had no legal problems but were deprived of the right to represent their country. So I decided to support them. Besides, I went to the Olympics to see the best athletes of the world and Russians are the best in many disciplines. So it's really sad".
