Next Gen Warfare - Russia Begins Serial Production of New "Avangard" Missile System
Russia began the serial production of the "Avangard" missile system. The contract was signed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This was stated in an interview to the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda" by a representative of the department Yuri Borisov.
The missile overcomes the dense layers of the atmosphere with hypersonic speed. It is immune to air defense and missile defense because of this. "Avangard" flies not on the usual ballistic trajectory, but in dense layers of the atmosphere at a height of several dozens of kilometers. It manoeuvres at the rate and height. It can circumnavigate the area of operations missile defense.
The missile body is made from the materials from which allow it to withstand heating of several thousand degrees and provide protection against laser irradiation.
