- Vitaliy, hello, the floor's yours.
- Yes, Dmitriy, hello.
Nikita Belykh's sentence was pronounced just a few minutes ago. The ex-Governor of the Kirov Oblast, Belykh, was sentenced to 8 years in prison, and a fine of 48 million rubles. This verdict was delivered by the Presnensky Court Judge. She found Belikh guilty of bribe-taking on an especially large scale, notably, only on one of the accounts, as there wasn't enough proof in the second instance and Belikh was acquitted.
The prosecutor asked for 10 years of prison camps and a fine of 100 million rubles for the ex-Governor. The accused took the sentence of 8 years in prison camps and a 48-million-ruble fine pretty hard even though he'll be credited with the nearly 1,5 years spent on remand awaiting trial.
Nikita Belykh was accused of accepting bribes from the Kirov Oblast lumber companies. The ex-Governor did not admit his guilt, but the Court found him guilty nonetheless. It's not yet clear if he plans to appeal the verdict.
