Poland is so eager for the USA to install a military base on Polish territory that it's ready to pay $2 billion, as the Politico news agency reports, which has examined documents from the Polish Ministry of Defense. The official papers sent to the White House indicate that Warsaw considers such a base to be absolutely necessary. The country pledged to give $2 billion, help the US military with logistics, and build military facilities together with the USA.

Any NATO expansion inevitably leads to a response from Russia, as Dmitry Peskov, the president's spokesman, said, commenting on the prospect of a US military base being put in Poland.

Dmitry Peskov: "When we see NATO progressively expanding its military structure to our borders, it indeed doesn't promote security and stability on the continent. On the contrary, all these expansionist actions will inevitably lead to a response from the Russian side in order to balance the broken parity. By all means, this is a sovereign decision that any country may make, but if such decisions are made, the consequences for the general atmosphere of security on the continent are indeed obvious".
