"It’s Safe, Just Trust Us": Russian Diplomats Refused Right to Check Safety of Diplomatic Facilities in US

The US authorities do not allow diplomats to check if the Russian diplomatic facilities are safe, has reported Russian ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov.

He said the Americans provided no explanation. In his view, such a position is unacceptable. The Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Michael Evanoff had stated that the facilities were safe, however, Russian diplomats were never allowed to check it.

In summer 2017, Washington demanded the closure of the Consulate General in San Francisco as well as two more diplomatic facilities in New York and Washington.
