Ready for Anything: Russia Begins Large Strategic Missile Defense Exercises in Urals

Large-scale maneuvers of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces have begun in the Urals. Over 3000 servicemen take part in the maneuvers and also the record number of equipment, including the most advanced. The servicemen practice the deployment of the complexes on the combat patrolling route, repositioning in the field and screening.
Kirill Bortnikov visited the training range.
"Squad, attention!
The Strategic Missile Forces commander ordered to deploy the missile regiments on the combat patrolling routes.
Affirmative!"
This is the start of the maneuvers of the Russian Strategic Missile Force. The "Yars" regiment from the Tagil missile formation is marching to the field position. Those advanced missile launchers are the nuclear shield of the country. The simulated enemy is on the alert and the vehicles en-route should be ready for surprises from the saboteurs.
This is the first time the remote mine clearing vehicle "Listva" is participating in the drill. It operates on the principle of a huge microwave. Due to this wide covering inductive module, one can detect, and most importantly, defuse the explosives over a distance of 100 meters. The effectiveness of the electromagnetic field is tested in action. "Listva" detonates the explosives planted by the saboteurs beforehand. The mines and bombs are defused remotely. The sabotage party is taken down in a matter of minutes.
Meanwhile, the missile regiments have already assumed their positions. The crews are on combat patrol. During the maneuvers, they will have to reposition several times and to practice the screening. Just a few minutes, and the "Yars" missile launcher is ready for the mission execution. The complex, carrying an intercontinental ballistic missile, is able to destroy strategic objects over a distance of up to 11K kilometers. The complex is operated only by the most experienced specialists. Such command and control maneuvers of the Strategic Missile Force are carried out on a regular basis.
Sergey Karakaev, commander of the Strategic Missile Force: "It's very important for us to know how the personnel mastered the equipment today, how is the equipment adapted to the positioning areas, and how are we ready today to rate the division regarding the operation of the new "Yars" complex."
Maneuvers of the Strategic Missile Force also included units of the Central military district, as well as MIA, "Rosgvardia", FSB and the EMERCOM, at least 3000 servicemen and 300 modern advanced vehicles in total.
