The powder snow is dry. Strong wind, the temperature that is too low for the beginning of March and a real polar blizzard are unusual for the middle zone of Russia.
Along the roads, there are snowdrifts up to half a meter high. Drivers are asked not to drive private cars today.
More than 1,500 units of special equipment are used to remove snow on the streets of the capital.
Forecasters believe that snowfalls and frosts will last the entire first half of March.
